I run a truck servicing workshop and for daily use I own a 1989 Toyota petrol 2.4 engine LDV. This is used for breakdowns, Tow-ins and private use. It is treated with Prolong engine treatment at 10%. I have done 12,000 km since my last service.

On Thursday 6th November I had a call-out to a Canter 4 Ton TRUCK. On arrival at the location approximately 15km from Knysna on the Reenendal road, approximately 90 km from George I found that the vehicle was a refrigerated truck loaded with 1.5 tons of meat/ The problem could not be solved in the field and it was necessary to get the Canter back to town.

I decided to tow the Canter with my LDV.

Between the Wilderness and Victoria Bay turn-off, through the Kaaiman’s gorge, before approaching the longest and final gradient, I had to stop behind another motor vehicle and workmen in front of me. This caused me to pull away in 1st gear and I had to maintain high revs. I could not change to 2nd gear. I watched as my heat gauge was rising into the RED and staying there. I could not stop and decided to push on. On arriving at the top of the gradient I could change gears and cool the vehicle down with a little more speed and continue to my workshop.

I am a qualified motor mechanic since 1976 with 31 years of experience. If it was not for Prolong engine treatment in my vehicle I would have had definite engine failure with potential expenses of over R5500.00.
I am now satisfied that there is no damage to my vehicle. I have the job card # 48937 available should you require a viewing. My vehicle exhaust is burning well. I am very impressed with the protection of Prolong engine treatment.

Just thought I would contact you and let you know how impressed I am with your product.

About three years ago, I started using Prolong & every time I had my car serviced I would religiously add a bottle. About seven months ago my radiator core burst. I was in the middle of no-where and did not have much of a choice, but to continue driving home.
​

After about 15 minutes the engine started rattling and made all sorts of noises. This happened as I got home. I thought to myself ….. Prolong doesn’t work. To my surprise however the next morning my car started and sounded like normal. I had my radiator replaced & my cylinder head skimmed & she was good as new. I was a believer again.

Over the weekend that just passed I did an overhaul on my engine. I was forced to have the block rebored which meant new pistons & rings. Obviously I had to change the big end & main bearings, but what shocked me most was the crank & bearings showed absolutely no signs of wear. When I took the bearings to have them sized the agent thought I gave him a new sample. He would not believe that they were at least 3 years old. ( I only have the car for 3 years ). The agent was very impressed.

No Sign of Over-Heating or Increase in the Engine Temperature
After much skepticism I aloud Prolong to be administered to my car. On Saturday the 29thJanuary my car blew a head gasket 40km from home, without any knowledge of the severe problem I carried on driving home. The next morning my brother noticed large amounts of oil on the paving underneath my car, he then discovered with shock the cause of the leak. Being a N3 motor mechanic student he was amazed to see that after +-40km the car had firstly showed no sign of over-heating or any increase in the engine temperature whatsoever. Secondly the engine by some miracle ( Prolong ) did not seize within a few minutes as the oil dropped to almost empty.

Being a female and having to drive long distances alone, I no longer have the fear of my car breaking down due to lubrication problems.
​
I am not only impressed but also grateful for having used your product as it saved me the cost of having to replace my entire engine.

We have historically changed oil on 300 hour intervals and had the wear metals analyzed. In one case, the wear metal analysis showed 35 PPM of iron before adding Prolong AFMT.

After the initial 10% treatment, iron wear metals dropped to 17 PPM.
​
After the second treatment, iron metals dropped to 13 PPM.
​
Third treatment produced iron wear metals of 9 PPM.
​
This was an astonishing 74% drop in wear metals from the baseline of 35 PPM.
​
We have since extended our oil change interval to 400 hours and still maintained 10 PPM of iron wear metals, or 71% drop.

I would like to thank all of the staff at Prolong for an excellent product, my golf would have never reached the kilometers it has had it not been for Prolong, my car is finally due for a major engine overhaul and this will be the first time the motor has been opened since 1985.

The car has been operating on Prolong since 1998. and the reason for the overhaul is a broken valve spring and a few tiny oil leaks.
​
I would appreciate it if you could give me any other info on what procedure i should follow on the rebuild, when using Prolong once again.
​
Should you wish to inspect the bearings and cylinders of the engine i would gladly furnish you with the said components.

Analysis of the KA24E Valve Train Wear Test (M328-95)
BACKGROUND: The KA24E is a standard industry test that is accepted by engine professionals worldwide. It is a dynamometer lubricant test, which measures how a lubricant protects engine parts from wear and scuffing. The engine is an in-line 4 cylinder, 2.4 liter, SOHC with three valves per cylinder water-cooled model. The test is comprised of running an engine for 100 cycles at one hour per cycle. Each cycle has two stages; one stage is run for 50 minutes while the other is run for 10 minutes. Stages 1 and 2 differ only in engine speed, coolant temperature and oil temperature while all other variables are held constant.
​
DATA: Three sets of data are shown in the following charts. The first set of data shows cam wear when compared to a reference oil based on measurements in seven locations on each of 12 camshaft lobes. This data is measured in micrometers. The second set includes the amount of iron wear in the engine when compared to a reference oil. The data is shown in parts per million. The third shows the reduction in rocker arm pad scuffing when compared to reference oil. In each case, the data shows a drastic reduction in wear when Prolong Engine Treatment is included with the base oil.
